Common methods of drying glassware

Instruments that are often used should be washed and dried for use after each experiment.
Different experiments have different requirements for drying. Generally, beakers, conical flasks and other instruments for quantitative analysis can be used after cleaning.
Many instruments used for food analysis are required to be dry, some require no water marks, and some require no water.
The instrument should be dried according to different requirements.
1: For instruments that are not in a hurry to dry, they can be rinsed with distilled water and placed upside down in a dust-free place to control the moisture, and then dry naturally.
The instrument can be placed on a shelf with wooden pegs or in a glass case with ventilation holes.
Two: Drying, the cleaned instrument is controlled to remove moisture, and it is dried in an oven at a temperature of 105~110 °C for about 1 hour.
It can also be dried in an infrared lamp drying oven.
This method is applicable to general instruments. After drying, the weighing bottle should be cooled and stored in a desiccator.
When drying thick-walled instruments with solid glass plugs, the temperature should be raised slowly and the temperature should not be too high to avoid rupture.
The measuring device cannot be placed in an oven.
The hard test tube can be heated and dried with an alcohol lamp. It should be baked from the bottom and the mouth of the tube should be lowered to prevent the water droplets from flowing back and bursting the test tube.
After drying until there are no water droplets, push the mouth of the test tube upward to remove the water vapor.
3. Dry with hot (cold) air. For instruments that are eager to dry or larger instruments that are not suitable for being placed in an oven, the method of drying can be used.
Usually, a small amount of ethanol and acetone are poured into an instrument that has been controlled to remove moisture, and then shaken with a hair dryer.
Start blowing with cold air for 1~2 minutes. When most of the solvent is volatilized, blow hot air into it until it is completely dry, and then use cold air to blow off the residual steam, so as not to condense in the container again.
